How can I get to Taft, CA by train or bus?
I need to go to Taft, CA for a job interview. The amtrak train and greyhound bus don't go beyond Bakersfield. I will need to take an additional bus/busses to Taft. How can I find out which ones to take? I live in LA county. I could drive there taking the 5 freeway north, but I try to utilize public transportation for long distance traveling. Please help.

Train would be alot faster and more convient but it would also be more expensive.

well technically you could take Amtrak from LA expect it wouldn't be on a train to Bakersfield yes you could take Greyhound and the bus to Taft does stop at the Greyhound station another alternate you could take Metrolink to Lancaster then board a Kern regional transit bus from the Lancaster station to Bakersfield, then in Bakersfield transfer to the Taft bus (its a 3 hour ride from Lancaster to Bakersfield though I did this trip once with a friend)

You can get to Taft easily by taking the Kern Regional Transit bus which travels between Bakersfield & Taft several times a day. To connect to this bus you can either take a Metrolink Train from LA Union Station to Lancaster where a connection to Kern Regional Transit can be made for the trip into Bakersfield and again transfer to the Taft route. Or, you could take Greyhound or Amtrak to Bakersfield and then connect to the Kern Regional Transit bus to Taft. Other options for the LA to Bakersfield segment include taking the airport bus of Bakersfield from LAX or just drive up I-5 to Frazier Park at the county line near the top of the grapevine where again you could connect to a Kern Regional route which could bring you into Bakersfield. Whatever way you get to Bakersfield just remember the Taft bus departs from the transit center in Downtown. Good Luck!
